It may look like someone’s quietly wheeled Freddie Spencer’s 1982 CB750F out of the Honda Collection Hall at Motegi, but this is actually Honda’s new CB1000F. Styled to mimic Fast Freddie’s brutal AMA Superbike, the CB1000F is heavily based on the CB1000 Hornet, complete with its 1000cc inline four-cylinder engine, steel diamond frame and electronic rider aids. But it’s been re-tuned to give more lowdown oomph with power trimmed from the standard Hornet 1000’s 150bhp to 122bhp. It also has shorter gearing for stronger acceleration and a newfound rumble to its soundtrack. In this video we get to ride the Honda at its world launch in Rome and speak to the man himself. Enjoy.
